How to Get Help

The Legal Aid Society of DC provides free legal assistance to individuals and families with little or no income. We also provide social work services for clients who we represent in their legal case. We assist people who live in DC, Maryland and Virginia. But, we can only handle cases that take place in DC. If your case is outside of DC, we may be able to refer you to a legal services office in another state. Legal Aid provides assistance regardless of citizenship or ability to speak English.
