Andrew Patterson

Andrew Patterson is a Senior Staff Attorney with the Public Benefits Law Unit. Andrew represents clients in a variety of legal matters, including Medicaid & Medicare, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), Food Stamps, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Unemployment Insurance (UI), and several other District health programs. Andrew also contributes to Legal Aid DC’s public policy and advocacy efforts, with a particular focus on the District’s health care programs.

Prior to joining Legal Aid DC in June 2007, Andrew worked as the Policy and Development Coordinator for the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition, and worked as an Americorps VISTA volunteer with Latino Memphis.

Andrew graduated with a B.A. from Rhodes College. He received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Maryland School of Law, where he served as Executive Symposium Editor for the University of Maryland Law Journal of Race, Religion, Gender and Class. Andrew also wrote for The Raven, Maryland Law’s student-run newspaper.
