Shavannie Braham is a Law Clerk in the Housing Law Unit. She assists with the representation of low-income tenants in eviction and housing conditions cases before the D.C. Superior Court. She also provides support for litigation of housing law claims before administrative bodies, such as the D.C. Housing Authority and the Office of Administrative Hearings.
Prior to joining Legal Aid in September 2016, Shavannie clerked in family court at the Cumberland County Courthouse in New Jersey. Shavannie graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Political Studies from the Washington Adventist University and received her J.D., with a concentration in family law, from the Howard University School of Law. In law school she was a research assistant and a student attorney in the Fair Housing Clinic. Throughout law school, Shavannie interned at the D.C. Superior Court, the D.C. Office of the Attorney General, and the 7th Circuit Court for Prince George’s County, Maryland.
