Stephanie Westman is a Staff Attorney in the Domestic Violence/Family Law Unit. She represents domestic violence survivors in custody and civil protection order cases. She is fluent in Spanish.
Stephanie first joined Legal Aid in September 2014 as a post-graduate fellow with the Domestic Violence/Family Law Unit. She has also previously served as an intern for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the Legal Resources Centre in Durban, South Africa, the Washtenaw County Public Defender’s Office, and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
Stephanie graduated with a B.A. from the University of Michigan. She received her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School, where she served as a Notes Editor for the Michigan Journal of Environmental and Administrative Law and volunteered with Street Law. While in law school, Stephanie received the Carl Gussin Memorial Prize for excellence in trial work as a student attorney in the Michigan Clinical Law Program and participated in the Advanced Clinical Law Program.
