Deputy Director of Development
Thuy-Tu Tran is the Deputy Development Director for Legal Aid. In that capacity, she is responsible for managing grants, seeking new funding opportunities, coordinating Legal Aid’s major fundraising campaigns, and assisting with special events. She also provides support for Legal Aid’s communications and social media operations.
Thuy-Tu first joined Legal Aid as Senior Development Associate in December 2011. Immediately prior, Thuy-Tu was a Development Officer at the Sibley Memorial Hospital Foundation in DC. In 2015, she left Legal Aid to pursue a career as a sous chef at Doi Moi, a D.C. restaurant specializing in Southeast Asian cuisine. She returned to Legal Aid in March 2016 in her current role.
Thuy-Tu graduated in 2004 from University of Minnesota with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in mass communication. After college, she worked for the Asian American Journalists Association as Program Coordinator, and as a Financial Aid Associate for the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. Thuy-Tu also served on the Board of the Thich Nhat Hanh Foundation from 2012 to 2014.
