Did you know …

… that District residents have a right to shelter when the temperature or wind chill falls below freezing?

…. that, by law, your landlord cannot evict you when the temperature is below 32 degrees?

…. that you can call the Energy Hotline 24 hours a day/7 days a week if your heat has been turned off?

As the temperature drops, this is critical information for persons living in poverty here in the District.

You can find all of this information and more in the attached 2010-11 WINTER EMERGENCIES INFO created by the District of Columbia Access to Justice Commission.   If you encounter someone who needs help during these cold, winter months, please share this information.  You could literally save a life.
