Cindy Díaz first joined Legal Aid in May 2019 as an undergraduate summer intern in the intake unit and following graduation, she returned to Legal Aid in July 2021 as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal. Cindy is a California native and graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, Berkeley with a B.A. in Legal Studies and Social Welfare and a Minor in Education. While at UC Berkeley, Cindy served as a Captain and Travel Coordinator for the nationally competitive Cal Mock Trial team and was a Grievance caseworker for the Student Advocate’s Office (SAO) assisting students who have experienced harassment, discrimination, and sexual assault at the university. After her classes, Cindy worked as an academic mentor at RISE, an after-school program at Berkeley High School, tutoring and mentoring at-risk students. Cindy used her passion for educational equity particularly within the Latinx community, to write an honors thesis that challenges educators’ misconceptions of Latinx parents and recognizes the role they have in their child’s educational trajectory through the use of cultural parenting practices. Now at Legal Aid, Cindy provides support to the Domestic Violence/Family Law Unit and Immigration Project. Cindy is fluent in Spanish.
