Legal Assistant/Intake Specialist

Kata de Lima serves as a Legal Assistant/Intake Specialist providing support for Legal Aid’s Intake and Pro Bono Programs. She staffs the intake phone lines to ensure that callers and applicants are connected with the resources they need. Kata also assists with Legal Aid’s walk-in intake hours and the processing of applications for legal assistance. Prior to joining Legal Aid in February 2020, Kata worked as a Client Services Specialist for the Orange County Rape Crisis Center in Chapel Hill, NC. In this role, she provided ongoing case management services to survivors of sexual violence and helped staff a 24-hour crisis line. Kata also served as a Program Coordinator for Immersion Island, a language immersion camp. She graduated from Salem College in Winston-Salem, NC with a B.A. in Women’s Studies and a minor in Spanish. Kata is proficient in Spanish. On the weekends, you can find Kata in her role as an educator with Lotus Blooms in Alexandria,Virginia.
