Kolleen Gladden-Sorensen is a Staff Attorney in the Domestic Violence/Family Unit.

Prior to joining Legal Aid DC in 2023, Kolleen served as a Robert F. Kennedy Fellow at Housing Works, Inc., in Brooklyn, NY. She provided clients living with HIV/AIDS direct services to procure or maintain their housing and benefits, secured legal name changes and gender marker changes, and assisted the impact litigation practice, particularly in the area of source of income discrimination. 

Kolleen graduated with a B.A. and B.S.Tech from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS, where she received the 2018 Outstanding Senior Woman award. She received her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where she completed internships with the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division, the Federal Public Defender for the Northern District of Texas, the Federal Public Defender for the Western District of Missouri, and the Legal Aid Justice Center in Charlottesville, VA. While in law school, Kolleen was awarded the Claire M. Corcoran Award for extraordinary commitment to public service as well as the 2021 Pro Bono Award.
