Megan Moffett

Sidley Austin Appellate Advocacy Fellow

Megan Moffett is the Sidley Austin Appellate Advocacy Fellow with Legal Aid’s Barbara McDowell Appellate Advocacy Project. Through this project, Megan focuses on representing Legal Aid clients in matters before the D.C. Court of Appeals and other appellate bodies and presenting the views of Legal Aid as a friend of the court.

Before joining Legal Aid, Megan received her B.A. from Jackson State University and her J.D. from Howard University School of Law. Throughout law school, Megan served as the Captain of the Charles Hamilton Houston National Moot Court Team, Secretary for the Class of 2021 Class Council, and the Community Service Chair for Epsilon Sigma Iota Sorority, Incorporated.

While in law school, Megan participated as a Student Attorney in Howard University School of Law’s Civil Rights Clinic. And as a law clerk in the Criminal Justice Clinic, she successfully researched and drafted Motions for Compassionate Release on behalf of clients of the Maryland Public Defenders Office.
