Garrett Wright

Senior Staff Attorney

(Admitted to practice law in New York. Practicing law in the District of Columbia pursuant to D.C. Court of Appeals Rule 49(c)(9)(B) under the supervision of Legal Aid attorneys admitted to the D.C. Bar and in good standing.)

Garrett Wright is a Senior Staff Attorney in the Housing Law Unit. He represents low-income tenants in eviction cases and housing conditions cases at D.C. Superior Court. He also litigates housing law claims before administrative bodies, such as the D.C. Housing Authority.

Before joining Legal Aid in April 2017, Garrett was a supervising attorney at the Urban Justice Center’s Community Development Project in New York City, where he provided litigation support to grassroots community-based organizations that were fighting against gentrification and displacement and for the realization of housing justice. In the fall of 2007, Garrett was a fellow at the Center for Constitutional Rights, where he worked on the Center’s litigation against the NYPD’s racist stop-and-frisk policies. He graduated from the University of California – Berkeley School of Law in 2007 and from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 2001.
