Brenda Green

When the DC government sought three years of unpaid taxes, Brenda Green knew she couldn’t afford to pay the amount owed. Ms. Green reached out to Legal Aid DC, and Volunteer Staff Attorney Tom Papson evaluated her case and began providing support. Because the matter was outside our core practice areas, Tom notified Sylvia Soltis, Legal Aid’s Director of Pro Bono, Volunteer, and Intern Programs, that Ms. Green needed to find a pro bono tax attorney. Legal Aid DC connected Ms. Green with Andrew Beaghley and George Hani from Miller & Chevalier, who found errors in the DC government’s claim and secured a manageable payment plan for Ms. Green.
