On Friday July 24, Legal Aid staff testified regarding the Mayor’s proposals to balance the District of Columbia budget.  Supervising Attorney Jennifer Mezey provided the Council with information on the negative impact  that will befall families who rely on Temporary Assistance for Needy Families should the proposal for enhanced sanctions go into effect.   (Jennifer's testimony. )   Jonathan Smith, Executive Director,  urged the Council to continue to support funding for civil legal services.  (Jonathan's testimony.)
