Amy P. Kaplan is a Supervising Attorney in the Consumer Law Unit. She represents clients in a wide range of consumer law matters, including debt collection, foreclosure, structured settlements, and auto insurance subrogation cases before the D.C. Superior Court. 
 
Before joining Legal Aid DC, Amy was a trial attorney at the Consumer Protection Branch at the Department of Justice, where she prosecuted civil and criminal actions on behalf of the United States in matters involving complex consumer fraud, deceptive trade practices, and violations of the ControlledSubstances Act, among others. Prior to that position, Amy worked for several years as a litigator in private practice, where she focused on consumer financial law, antitrust law, and white collar investigations. While in private practice, Amy also had a robust pro bono practice focused on consumer law.
 
Amy received her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and her B.A. from Stanford University.
