Samone Smith

Samone Smith is a Staff Attorney in the Housing Law Unit. She represents low-income tenants in eviction cases before the D.C. Superior Court. She also litigates housing law claims before administrative bodies, such as the D.C. Housing Authority and the Office of Administrative Hearings.
Prior to joining Legal Aid DC in May of 2023, Samone was a law clerk for Legal Innovators handling insurance defense and bankruptcy claims. Samone received her J.D. from Howard University School of Law and her B.A. from Abilene Christian University in Political Science and Biblical Studies. While in law school, Samone served as a student attorney in Fair Housing Clinic where she represented low-income tenants in housing conditions court in D.C.
Not yet admitted to the Bar of the District of Columbia, but admitted to practice law in another jurisdiction. Practicing law in the District of Columbia pursuant to D.C. Court of Appeals Rule 49(c)(8)(A) under the supervision of Legal Aid attorneys admitted to the D.C. Bar and in good standing.
