Leta Bennafield

Leta Bennafield, a D.C. native, has been supporting her children and her elderly mother while pursuing an engineering degree for a brighter future and relied on SNAP and Disability Assistance benefits. She faced some challenges when these benefits were abruptly cut due to clerical issues at the DC Department of Human Services (DHS). Legal Aid attorney Nicole Dooley helped Ms. Bennafield fight tirelessly to reinstate her benefits, securing both the SNAP and the Disability Assistance despite repeated challenges to her benefits. She thanks Legal aid for supporting her through her hard times and considers Nicole a blessing in her time of need.
