Dana Huffstutler is a Senior Legal Assistant/Paralegal in the Housing Law Unit. Before joining Legal Aid in January 2025, Dana worked in San Francisco, California, doing anti-displacement work. She worked at the Eviction Defense Collaborative (EDC) and was a team leader for their pro se clinic. In addition to connecting tenants to free full and limited scope attorneys under San Francisco's Tenant Right to Counsel Program, she worked closely with many tenants who did not receive representation. Dana drafted legal documents such as answers, jury demands, first responses to motions, stays of execution, and more.

Simultaneously, Dana was a tenant leader of a local grassroots group, the West Side Tenants Association (WSTA), that organized around housing injustices on the west side of San Francisco. They supported their neighbors against landlord harassment, hosted monthly meetings, and formed a mutual aid group.

Dana graduated from San Francisco State University with a B.A. in Environmental Studies with an emphasis in Sustainability & Social Justice, along with a minor in Spanish, and she is a fluent Spanish speaker. At SFSU, Dana was involved in a student campaign to get a full-time food pantry on campus. She also was the Assistant Director of the Environmental Resource Center that focused on zero waste, food waste, and a community garden.
