Maggie Deas

Maggie Deas is a Staff Attorney in the Housing Law Unit. She represents low-income tenants in eviction cases before the D.C. Superior Court. She also litigates housing law claims before administrative bodies, such as the D.C. Housing Authority and the Office of Administrative Hearings.

Maggie received her J.D. from George Washington University Law School and her B.A., magna cum laude, in Political Science from Clemson University. While in law school, Maggie served as a student attorney in George Washington’s Criminal Appeals and Post-Conviction Services Clinic and as a Writing Fellow. In addition, Maggie served as an associate on the Federal Communications Law Journal, where her Note, “ShotSpotter Misfires: The Subordination of Fourth Amendment Rights in the Age of Unreliable Technology,” was published in Volume 78.

While at George Washington University Law School, Maggie received the GW Law Exceptional Pro Bono Service Award for completing more than 250 hours of pro bono work. She worked as an intern at Legal Aid DC, Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs, South Carolina Commission on Indigent Defense, and Charleston Pro Bono Legal Services.
