Mariel Perez-Santiago is a Staff Attorney in Legal Aid DC’s Immigration Unit, where she provides legal services to individuals seeking asylum and other forms of humanitarian immigration relief.
Before joining Legal Aid DC in June 2025, Mariel was a Trial Attorney in the Immigrant and Employee Rights Section of the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division, where she investigated allegations of discrimination based on citizenship status and national origin. Mariel previously worked on family-based and humanitarian immigration matters at Catholic Charities, Archdiocese of Washington.
Before moving to D.C., Mariel served detained immigrant families as a staff attorney with RAICES in Texas. Mariel received her J.D. from Stanford Law School, where she was a student attorney in the Immigrants’ Rights Clinic.
