Michael Arrington is a Senior Staff Attorney in the Family Law and Domestic Violence Unit. He represents survivors in civil protection order proceedings and other family law matters. Before joining Legal Aid DC in July 2025, Michael worked at Advocates for Children of New York (AFC), where he represented students and families involved in the foster care system in education-related matters, including special education and disciplinary hearings. In addition to representing families, Michael trained and provided technical assistance to child welfare professionals at New York City foster care agencies and supported education policy advocacy at the local and state levels.

Prior to his time at AFC, Michael served as an Education Law and Policy Fellow at the Center for Public Research and Leadership (CPRL) at Columbia Law School. He also previously worked as a high school English teacher in Texas.

Michael graduated with degrees in Philosophy and Rhetoric & Writing, with Honors, from the University of Texas at Austin. He received his J.D. from New York University School of Law, where he was awarded the Ann Petluck Poses Memorial Prize for outstanding clinical work and served as an Executive Editor of the Journal of Legislation and Public Policy.
