Philip Keisler is a Staff Attorney in the Public Benefits Unit. He represents clients in a wide range of public benefits matters, including Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medicaid, Medicare, and unemployment insurance.

Philip joined Legal Aid DC in September 2026 after graduating from NYU Law School. During his time at law school, Philip was a legal intern for the NYU Brennan Center Public Policy Advocacy Clinic and the Office of the Federal Public Defender for the District of Columbia.

After graduating from Washington University in St. Louis in 2022 with a B.A. in political science and history, Philip joined AmeriCorps and spent a year assisting members of Maryland’s immigrant communities with citizenship applications, green card renewals, and taxes, and tutored them in financial literacy and English.
