Mariah Hines is a Sidley Austin Appellate Advocacy Fellow with Legal Aid’s Barbara McDowell Appellate Advocacy Project. Her projects focus on litigating appeals and filing amicus briefs on behalf of underprivileged persons in the District of Columbia.
Prior to joining Legal Aid, Mariah received her B.A. from Virginia Commonwealth University and her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. Throughout law school, Mariah served as a member of the Barrister’s Council, the Black Law Student Association, and the Women of Color Collective. Mariah additionally served as a volunteer with the National Veteran Legal Services Program, where she assisted veterans in filing claims for public benefits.
