Ashley R. Moore

Staff Attorney

Ashley R. Moore is a Staff Attorney in the Public Benefits Law Unit. Ashley represents clients in a wide range of public benefits matters, including Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medicaid, Medicare, and unemployment insurance.

Prior to joining Legal Aid in January 2019, Ashley was a Senior Policy Associate/Staff Attorney at the Children’s Defense Fund (CDF) in Washington, DC. While at CDF, Ashley worked primarily on youth justice and education policy matters at the intersection of race and class, in-house legal matters, and pro bono family law matters. Prior to that Ashley worked as a litigation associate at Fried Frank following a clerkship with then-Chief Judge Gregory M. Sleet at the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware.

Ashley graduated with a dual B.A. in Psychology and Government & Politics from the University of Maryland, College Park. Ashley received her J.D. from Harvard Law School, where she received an Equal Justice America Summer Fellowship and spent her 1L summer as a law clerk with the National Center for Youth Law. Ashley also served as an executive board member of the Harvard Black Law Students Association (BLSA) and the Northeast Regional BLSA, a technical editor for the Harvard Journal of Law & Gender, and a student attorney with the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau.
